How our remodeling process works
A clear process reduces surprises. We begin with an on-site consultation to understand how you use the space and your priorities.
After agreeing on scope, we prepare a written estimate and timeline. If design decisions are needed, we present options and sample materials. Once the contract is signed and permits (if required) are in process, construction begins under daily supervision with regular homeowner updates.
- Initial visit and needs review
- Scope definition and written estimate
- Design choices, samples, and allowances
- Permits and pre-construction checklist
- Construction with regular progress updates and on-site supervision
Practical tips for homeowners
Plan your material selections early. Long lead items (custom cabinets, certain countertops, specialized tile) are common sources of schedule delay.
Clear a staging area and decide where contractors can park and store materials. Protect adjacent rooms with dust barriers and establish daily cleanup expectations.
- Confirm property setbacks and code constraints early
- Allow extra lead time for custom cabinetry, tile, and appliances
- Plan deliveries and storage for oversized materials
- Coordinate subcontractors and inspections to avoid schedule gaps
Questions to ask before hiring
Hiring a contractor is about trust and clarity. Ask for a written contract that lists the scope, materials, timeline, and payment terms.
Make sure your contractor will pull permits when required and carry appropriate liability and workers’ compensation insurance.
- Verify the contractor’s license and insurance (we are CA License 1011498)
- Ask for a clear scope, payment schedule, and change-order process
- Request references and photos of similar work (we provide project photo lists upon request)
- Confirm who will handle permits and final inspections
Frequently asked questions
How long will my remodel take?
Most interior kitchen and bathroom remodels in the Los Angeles area typically take 4–12 weeks once construction starts, depending on scope, structural changes, and lead times for ordered materials. Larger projects or those requiring structural work and permits can take longer. We provide an estimated timeline during the proposal and update you as work progresses.
Do I need a permit for my remodel?
Yes. For many projects a building permit is required — particularly when moving plumbing or electrical, changing structural elements, or expanding footprint. We help clients identify required permits, prepare documentation, and work with local jurisdictions in Los Angeles, Pasadena, Burbank, and other served cities to submit and obtain permits.
How much will a remodel cost?
We don’t list fixed prices because every project is different. During the consultation we review the scope and provide a written estimate with a clear breakdown of labor, materials, and allowances for fixtures and finishes. If you want budget targets, tell us your target range and we’ll design to meet it.
Can I stay in my home during construction?
You can live in your home during many remodels, but it depends on the project. Kitchen and bathroom remodels may disrupt daily routines; we’ll discuss phased work, temporary set-ups, and safety measures. For major renovations or when there are safety concerns, temporary relocation may be recommended.
